Cayo Exclusive Resort & Spa

The new five star hotel- Cayo Exclusive Resort and Spa has been developed in the area of Plaka Elounta, on the mountain side opposite the island of Spinalonga on a plot of land of 22 acres. The driving force behind Cayo Exclusive Resort and Spa was the design and the materiality that would allow the guest to feel at first hand the local tradition and architecture in a modern setting offering a relaxed environment of a village.

The steep grade of the site impacted greatly on the architectural design, it allowed for all rooms to have a panoramic view to the sea and the dominant Spinalonga island.

The hotel was developed along the contours of the land in six groups: the main building with its broken volumes terracing down the mountain, four groups of varying volumes comprising the hotel rooms and one group of the hotel’s villas. Each group is then broken into smaller built forms giving them each a sense of personal identity. A large emphasis was placed on the ease of circulation – by foot via the winding footpaths, the twin teleferique and via private golf carts.

The emphasis was placed on the guests privacy, taking advantage of the unique view and respect to the surrounding landscape with the extensive use of traditional and local materials.

The hotel comprises of 64 rooms and suites, all with private heated pools and large external areas with panoramic views to the sea, 6 villas with gym and private pool and one presidential villa with sauna, private pool, gym, separate kitchen, and large external areas.

There are three restaurants, wellness SPA, fitness center, two conference centers of 160 and 30 persons, and two large swimming pools.
